We are in the newspaper! The LZ reports about SECOND CHANCE
20. August 2024We are delighted about a detailed article about our work here in Tanzania that was recently published in the Lippische Landeszeitung newspaper. Entitled “A chance for drug-addicted children”, the article highlights the mission of our director Andrea Hellemann and her team and what we have achieved together in recent years.
Journalist Nadine Uphoff took the time to dive deep into our story and share our vision with the world. She describes how Andrea came to Tanzania over 15 years ago to help drug-addicted children and give them a new perspective. “The 'Second Chance' team consists of engaged local team members and Andrea Hellemann from Detmold,” writes Uphoff and highlights also that some of the former street children are now supporting the mission of Second Chance.
The article also tells the personal stories of many of our team members who were once street children themselves and now, through their own experience and strength, help others to find their way. This journey is not always easy, but as the article says: “Many children have learned that their strength lies on the street.” We use this strength to bring about positive change.
We are particularly pleased that the methods we use are also mentioned. From schooling to therapeutic activities to acrobatics - all of these serve not only to give the children a structure, but also to create a sense of achievement that helps them find their way to a better life. “Activities like acrobatics give children a sense of achievement,” the article says, and that's exactly what drives us.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our supporters. Without you, our work would not be possible. We hope that this article will inspire even more people to join our mission and fight together with us for a better future for children in Tanzania.
Let's celebrate this moment and keep working to give every child the chance of a new life!
With best regards, your Second Chance team
